5 of the most commonly asked questions about laser hair removal!
So, there is a lot to talk about when it comes to laser hair removal, but I wanted to answer some of the most common questions regarding this fantastic treatment.
Will my hair grow back?
Laser hair removal is permanent when the hair follicle is totally destroyed. When the hair follicle is only damaged, the hair will eventually regrow this is why it is important to complete a course of treatments even if you see good results after a few sessions.
There are 3 stages to your hair growth and the amount of time it takes for the hair to regrow depends on the person’s individual hair growth cycle. Some people have hair that grows more quickly than others but the depending on the stage of your hair growth cycle will depend on how effective the laser targets the follicles so completing a full course for optimum results is essential.
Will Laser hair removal stop in growing hairs?
laser hair removal is the best and only real effective choice for getting rid of ingrown hairs quickly. This is because laser hair removal goes straight to the source of the problem, the root or hair follicle. The laser hits the follicle directly, burning away the follicle’s ability to produce hair and once the follicle can no longer produce hair, an affected area will begin to heal.
A hair follicle will continue growing hair until you stop it. By using laser hair removal, you’re stopping the hair follicle from producing hair now and in the future. This will put an end to irritation, pain, infection, and further damage to your skin.
Is laser hair removal safe?
Laser hair removal is safe, but it can occasionally cause side effects, such as pain and discomfort, and reddening of the skin, however with the cooling Ice Tip on the Evolve Laser and correct pre and post treatment care you are very unlikely to see any side effects.
It isn’t suitable for everyone, including pregnant women and people with certain skin types but this is why we carry out a full consultation and patch test before proceeding with any course of treatments.
I know people worry about laser causing cancer but there's no evidence to suggest that laser hair removal causes skin cancer and the Evolve laser is medically certified.
Always ensure you laser practitioner is fully trained and insured to carry out the treatments that the equipment they are using is certified.
Is Laser Hair Removal painful?
With standard laser hair removal treatments, you can feel what is described as a ‘hot flick’ of an elastic band during treatment. However, with the virtually pain-free Evolve treatment you will feel little to no sensation at all.
The built-in Ice Tip™ technology when in MOTION mode allows for even more comfort for clients especially when treating an area with lots of dense and dark hair. During treatment this technology can reach temperatures of -8°C for extra comfortable treatments.
Is it safe to treat all skin type with laser hair removal?
The laser is attracted to the melanin, or colour, in your hair follicles, so the treatment traditionally works best on an individual with dark, coarse hair and pale skin — the contrast helps the laser better target the hair follicles.
However, the technology of the Evolve Diode Laser works well on all skin colours and almost every type of hair. The one exception is fine, blond hair that doesn’t have any melanin, so it can’t be targeted by the laser.
